Dresses
“I love you!” He yelled back.
“Love you too!” She said just as Julie started to drive away.
“You two are so gross!” Avery said from behind her.
“Face it Avie! You wish you weren’t single!”
“Oh grow up Mia!” she said sticking her tongue out.
“Grow down Avie! And remember, I am the one who is getting married!” Mia teased.
“Yeah to Zac! My immature brother!”
“Hey Avie, I think that in some respects Zac is VERY mature!” Jen winked at Mia.
“Jen!” Diana gasped.
“Sorry Mrs. Hanson!” Jen said in a monotone voice.
“What?” Avery questioned, oblivious to what the conversation was about.
“Nothing!” Diana snapped.
“So what color are the dresseses gonna be? Cause I like pink and purple!” Zoë interjected at one point.
“Definitely NOT Pink and or purple!” Mia laughed.
“But!”
“No!”
“But!” Zoë tried again.
“Zo, when you get married, I promise I will wear a pink and purple ‘dresseses’!” Mia settled with her. She seemed content with the answer and went back to playing with a piece of Jessica’s long blonde hair.
Eventually they reached the shopping center. They all unloaded from the car and decided what store to go to. After about an hour of four girls trying on bridesmaid and maid of honor dresses and the two mothers trying on dresses to wear, Mia was about ready to shoot herself! Zoë was getting squirmy and irritable, and Avery was getting angry and irritable having to put up with Zoë.
“Ok! Can we PLEASE break for lunch now? I’m freaking starving!” Mia asked group.
“Yeah, I guess food would do everyone some good!” Diana agreed.
“I wanna go to McDonalds!” Zoë yelled.
“No! Zoë got choice last time!” Jessica interjected.
“Yeah! We should go somewhere with good food!” Avery agreed.
“Here, Jen and I will take Zo to McDonalds down the street! You guys can choose where you want to go! We will walk you guys can take the van and just meet back here in like 2 hours or something! Ok?” Mia settled no ready to deal with a fight or debate.
“Sounds like a plan! Ok, so everyone except you two and Zoë in my van!” Julie told the rest of the girls.
They all broke and Jen, Mia, and Zoë walked down the street to go get their food.
“Hey Jen,” Mia started as they were still walking.
“Yeah?”
“Can, uh, can I talk to you about something?”
“Yeah! Sure!”
“Up!” Zoë demanded the two girls. They each grabbed one of her arms and lifted her.
“God Zo! You’re heavy!” Jen complained. Mia rolled her eyes and knew that Zoë would keep wining if she didn’t get up. She stopped and told Zoë to get on her back.
“So, its kinda awkward!” Mia explained to Jen, “Its about s-e-x!” she spelled out so Zoë couldn’t understand.
“Ok, what about the dirty deed?”
“Well, what is it, like? I guess? Cause I’m pretty sure that Zac talked to Ike and Tay about it earlier!”
“Why do you think that?”
“Before you came down with then munchkin,” She said jumping, making Zoë laugh, “Zac asked about using c-o-n-d-o-m-s and stuff! And how would they get on that subject if they hadn’t been?”
“Well? Are you gonna?”
“No, I don’t think so, I’m not on anything, but we kinda agreed that the whole ‘natural’ thing was better!”
“Nature is pretty! I like butterflies!” Zoë piped in. Jen and Mia ignored her.
“Well, I mean, its probably gonna hurt, although you may not think about it at first, Just cause its you and Zac! You’re so lovey-dovey that you wouldn’t notice if the building was on fire!” Jen laughed.
“You’re actually probably right!” The two laughed and went into the restaurant. They ordered, got their food and sat down.
“Ok,” Mia started again, “Can you finish telling what its like so I don’t get all weird on him?”
“Well you got the ‘on him’ part down!” Jen winked, “Ok, well, its Zac, so he may have experience with--”
“He doesn’t! He would’ve told me when it happened, you know before this! And we talked about it on the 22nd!”
“Really? Huh! Well, you’re gonna want to relax! It may be weird and foreign! Its kinda like pain, but good! You know?”
“Uh, Jen I think the last time I experienced pain it was anything BUT good!” Mia laughed.
“Well, I mean, here,” Jen grabbed a bun off of one of the burgers on the table and squished it together and held it out to Mia, “Stick this, into that straw!”
“Yeah, no…” Mia said shaking her head.
“Well, I mean maybe not THAT drastic! But its kinda like that! I mean it also feels like, the greatest thing in the world!”
“Jen that makes no sense!”
“Yeah, but, its hard to explain! I can tell you HOW! Its just hard to tell you what its like!”
“So then start with the how!” They both looked over at Zoë who was completely engulfed in her toy.
“Ok, well, you know the main stuff right! I don’t have to tell you what goes where right!”
“Jen, I know your mom! I’m pretty sure she explained that part enough!” Mia laughed.
“Good! So do you want to know like, ‘tricks’?”
“Uh, sure?” Mia laughed and coughed on her drink.
“Well,” Jen started.
As they ate their lunch told Mia almost everything that she knew. Using spelling and code words to spare the 4 year old and to make sure that she didn’t go home and tell her parents what they were talking about. After they ate and talked they walked back to the stores and waited for the rest of the group. When they finally got there, twenty minutes late, they walked into a different store and Jen almost immediately found her dress. Mia mindlessly agreed, Jen knew what looked good, and this was her dress! Jen also helped the three sisters pick out their dresses. Mia basically left it to her while she thought of a rhythm and beat for a new song they had been working on. Right now they were in Tulsa for a few weeks instead of the usual LA. Jeff was a little upset about their ‘vacation’ but allowed it. As soon as Zac and Mia came back from their trip, they had two more days and then back to LA to start working again. She didn’t really mind, because in LA, her and Zac could have their own house! In Tulsa, they didn’t know what they would do! Probably be forced by all siblings to sleep in separate rooms. The thing that Mia was probably most nervous about was Jeff. He didn’t know about them. He was going to be pissed!
“This one?” Jen asked eagerly as the three Hanson sisters stepped out in the exact same blue, satin, knee length dress. The dress was strapless, except for Zoë’s, it was scrunched at the top and had a ribbon of the same color right underneath. The bottom flowed out.
“Yeah, Jen, that’s awesome! But are you really gonna ask me?” She questioned.
“Right! Mom! Diana! What do you think of these?” Jen yelled to the two moms who were looking at other dresses.
“Aww! You three look adorable!” Julie squealed as she walked over to the three. “Yes! Yes yes yes! Please Mia!”
“Uh, sure! Ask Jen! She gets final say!” she laughed, “Ok, speaking of Jen,” she smiled, “You. Dress. On. Go. Now!” Jen rolled her eyes and walked into the dressing room. When she came out she had a dress that looked similar to the other three, except it went to the floor and was a blue/purple color that looked amazing on her.
“Oh my god! Jen!” Mia exclaimed.
“Yeah, I know!” She said pretending to flip her hair over her shoulder and smiling.
“I think that Zo should wear a different color and be flower girl!” Jess said.
“Like what?” Diana asked.
“Pink!” Zoë yelled, attracting the attention of a few girls around them.
“No!” Mia said as someone tapped her shoulder. She turned around and saw 7 girls about her age and maybe a little older facing her.
“Oh my god! Are you her?” one asked.
“The girl who sang that song!” Another chipped in.
“With those three cute blondes?” A third added.
“Uh, I sing a lot of songs,” she nervously laughed, “but if you mean ‘that song’ so be ‘MMMBop’ and ‘those cute blondes’ to be Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson, then yes! That’s me.”
“OH MY GOD! I CANT BELIEVE I’M STANDING NEXT TO MIA HANSON!” One screamed.
“Not yet, but almost!” Jen said behind Mia.
“Uhh, hi!” Mia said smiling at the girls ignoring Jen.
“Can you sign this and take a picture with us?” One asked.
“Sure, got a pen and a camera?” Mia was used to signing crap and taking pictures with fans, she had been doing it for just about six years. The girls scrambled around to find the items. One pulled out a Polaroid camera. Great! Now I’m gonna have to sign every picture they take! She thought as she smiled for the camera. Sure enough when the photo developed she was asked to sign each and every photo they took.
“Ok bye” Mia smiled as they walked away squeaking and squealing about seeing her. “UGH! I’m sorry guys! They usually aren’t that… high pitched! And the guys are usually here to talk to them.” She told the group. They all understood.
“So, I think this would look good on Zoë!” Julie said.
“I don’t know, I say keep it the same! It’s less complicated and takes less time! Which we don’t have enough of!” they all agreed with Jen and settled on dresses for all of them. When they finally left and got home Jen marched Mia strait to the room she shared. She needed to make her over before she saw Zac.
“Jen! No!” Mia said pushing Jen’s hand away.
“I swear Mia, let me put the makeup on you!”
“No!” Mia whined, “Its annoying! And there! And then I forget its there and rub my eyes or something and ruin it! And No!”
“YES!” Jen yelled back before sticking a mascara wand in her face. “Move and this thing goes into your eye!” Mia moaned and let Jen put very little makeup on her.
“I hate this!” She protested when Jen had finished.
“Its barely anything! Shut up and let me do your hair!”
“UGH!” Mia plopped herself down in the chair and folded her arms letting Jen play with her long hair. It was just plain brown, nothing to it! It went down about three inches underneath he shoulder blades, she usually wore it up, and sometimes down, it was kinda strait, it had a few waves here and there, but nothing special. Jen curled and straitened and sprayed and brushed and pulled at Mia’s head. When she was done her hair was all wavy.
“Wow, its nice! Thanks Jen.” Mia admitted to her.
“I told you! Now put your clothes on! Dinner is in like an hour and a half!” Jen told her walking to the mirror and table so she could do her own hair and makeup. The dinner wasn’t fancy so she didn’t see why she had to wear any makeup! She threw on a pair of tight pants and a t-shirt that Jen picked because it was short and showed off about ¾ of an inch of her stomach, and even more when she lifted her arms. She kinda hated it. Mia lay on her bed as Jen quickly got dressed. Jen always looked nicer than Mia! She always did more! More Makeup, more hair styling, girlier and dressier clothes, and Mia actually didn’t mind! That was Jen’s personality! Not Mia’s!
“Hurry Up!” A voice yelled from downstairs telling the two girls to get down there. The walked down and Zac saw Mia.
“Aw! You’re wearing makeup!” Zac teased her.
“Yeah! Shut up about it! Jen threatened me with mascara wands!” She laughed. Zac was about to kiss her when Jen’s hand got in the way.
“NO! Zac you will not mess her up! Got it!” Jen told him sternly.
“Come on Jen!” Mia complained.
“No!”
“What could he possibly mess up?”
“Your hair, your lip gloss, everything! So no!” Mia sighed in protest and Jen glared at her. In one very quick movement Zac scooped Mia up and kissed her making sure to mess up at least her lip gloss.
“ZAC!” Jen screamed. Zac had to stop kissing Mia because they were both laughing too much. “Bastard!” Jen whispered to them. Grabbing Mia’s arm and trying to pull her away and into the car they were going in. Zac slid in next to her laughing. Jen glared at him.
“Love you too!” She said just as Julie started to drive away.
“You two are so gross!” Avery said from behind her.
“Face it Avie! You wish you weren’t single!”
“Oh grow up Mia!” she said sticking her tongue out.
